Machete

Postby Will » Sat Mar 05, 2016 4:26 pm

Was looking a good one since I lost my last one. I ended up getting an Ontario Knives Military spec 18". I put my own edge one it, polished it to shaving sharp and its a damn good n . balanced good, blade is thick enough it doesn't bend but it's not heavy and too thick to pop through shit. Baseball bat sized Holly is a peice of cake with one pop.

Machete

Postby North LA Hunter » Sat Mar 05, 2016 8:56 pm

It's hard to find a good machete. Got a gerber a few years ago and something about it just doesn't feel rite. Doesn't swing nor hit like the old machete's that look like that one.

Why did you get it from?

Cold steel has a good blade . Holds edges well.

I have a friend that has the Cold Steel one that looks like this one. I've used it many times and "liked it until I got this one". The blade is slightly thicker and it feels better balanced, feels like the weight is right where you contact most things with the blade. Also, what caught my attention is that the blade is 1095 Carbon which is a tad harder than most other machetes. It was harder to sharpen which means it should stay sharper longer. I had a Corona that was alright but it was too flimsy and wouldn't hold an edge as long. I dont know what it was made of but it seemed softer.
