Yes it can! You have to walk a long ways and then the gobbler you want to shoot it's strutting around at 70 yards!

But I enjoy it a lot!

I haven't drawn a decent tag in a few years so it's been a bit since I went. It can be alot of fun for sure. I may get after it this year depending on what tags are left.

I used to do a lot of turkey hunting when I lived in South Texas and when I lived in Illinois. South TX, had to kick them out of your way when walking around down there....stuck three with a bow, handful with a rifle.

Had to work a little harder in IL...but, still wasn't that hard once I knew where they were roosting. Be there before first light and call them down out of the roost to you. Last bird I killed was in Arkansas at Camp Kia Kima Scout Reservation about three years ago...ole 10 gauge single shot action on about a 65 yard shot on the run up a hill. LOL held about two feet over his head...broke both his legs and he couldn't get off the ground!

Huck

Did you hunt on a lease out there? Which one?

I hunt on a lease off of 37. We do pretty good on the birds every year. It's good that only a handful of us hunt them.

Headed down to southern Illinois about the second week of April for our annual turkey hunting/crappie fishing trip with my brother and a good friend.

I can't wait to be in the woods once again.
I'm planning a trip to Oklahoma to get a few days in before the season opens up here in MO.
I can't wait for another year and the trifecta = turkeys, morels, and crappie. That is always a good day.

My favorite way to turkey hunt is out the window of my truck with a .22. My wife enjoys it too. We have a huge turkey over population problem here. They have the same effect on green wheat that snow geese do we have so damn any of them. I'll take a picture of a field full of em so you guys can see this shit lol

It's simple. get a mud motor. shoot ducks in the face.

Went out this morning. Figured they would have been go gobbling their head off being a cool clear morning but I don't hear nor see tracks anywhere. Guess I'm going to another spot next weekend for opener.
